Meet Josh Pruett, PE
Geotechnical Engineer

Coastal restoration
Slope stability

Baton Rouge, LA

Josh says his job at GeoEngineers comes down to crunching numbers and observing field conditions. In the field, he logs borings, documenting what is happening around the bore-hole and recording the soil details. Back in the office, he runs pile capacity, slope stability, settlement and other analyses. Josh often acts as an interface between client representatives and the company and directs field, lab and analytical work for various projects.

Although he is early in his geotechnical engineering career, Josh is proud of his contributions he has made to the firm so far. For example, he helped develop a method to account for progressively submerging fill in settlement analyses for marsh-creation projects. “I feel satisfied that it gives us a better idea of what is happening in real life than our previous methods to approach marsh creation settlement,” Josh reflects. “I am always learning, whether by deepening my understanding of earth and engineering principles or by increasing my ability to effectively engage with other people.”

Josh loves spending time with his wife and daughter, watching movies and TV together, going on walks, hiking, cooking and baking and spending time with friends. “Watching my daughter learn and grow is a constant adventure.” Josh enjoys serving at his church. He also recharges through several creative pursuits, including drawing, painting, doodling, sculpting, ceramic arts and photography.
