Jim is a senior principal geotechnical engineer who is responsible for business development in the Spokane office and serves as principal on geotechnical, environmental, and hydrogeologic projects, seeing them through from proposal stage to final review of the technical work product. In addition, Jim is developing a technical excellence program to assess and improve GeoEngineers’ work methods and products.
When describing the staff’s talents and integrity, Jim reflects, “It’s a part of our culture that sets us apart from our competitors. We have a passion for providing our clients with what they need, when they need it, for a fair price.” Jim also notes that an unexpected benefit of his long-standing client relationships is that many have turned into friendships.
Jim acknowledges that outstanding teachers and mentors helped kindle his interest in geotechnical engineering and advance his career. Whenever he signs a well-executed technical document or report co-written by a young professional he has mentored, he is proud to see that he has passed along the same mentoring benefits he received.
Work projects have taken Jim to fascinating parts of the US and the world. When he's not traveling, he enjoys cooking for friends and family and working on his house and yard. Among Jim’s favorite outdoor activities are biking, golfing, tennis, fishing and downhill skiing. He confesses, “I drink a beer every day, sometimes two on the weekend if I decide to get wild and crazy.”
