As CFO, Karen oversees the company’s financial records and sets up internal controls and sound procedures to protect company assets. She runs financial planning and analysis for the company and regularly provides reports to the CEO and board of directors. “I like providing information to others that makes their jobs easier and improves profitability for the company,” Karen reflects. “Understanding financial matters is not a strong suit for most engineers and scientists. Making the information meaningful and clear to our staff is very satisfying.”

After working for some  large companies post-college, Karen has found  it more rewarding to play a larger role in a smaller company. “GeoEngineers has been a great fit for me,” she says. “I am proud of building a department of individuals who enjoy their work and supporting others in the company.”

Karen enjoys traveling to sunny destinations, particularly Arizona and California, where her children live. She calls Maui an all-time favorite destination, where swimming, walking and reading take up the daylight hours. When not traveling, Karen makes spending time with family and friends a high priority.
