Between college and graduate school, an unexpected opportunity altered Seth’s structural engineering career plans. “An opening in geotechnical engineering was made available at the company where I was working. I liked it so much, I switched my emphasis and the rest is history.”

At GeoEngineers, Seth’s job involves exploring and testing the soil, and then giving recommendations on how to deal with the conditions he has identified. He enjoys working at an earth sciences firm, being outdoors and seeing the projects being completed. “My wife gets tired of me pointing out projects I’ve worked on,” he laughs. One project that stands out for him is the Idaho State Highway 16 extension project. Seth reflects, “It’s been a large project that will impact a lot of the people in the Boise area. It’s rewarding to be involved in projects like this that will make a positive difference.”

Seth and his wife love sports. “She and I met while playing ultimate Frisbee. I was impressed at how good she was and I wanted to know how to get better—I hadn’t played previous to that meeting.” The couple is currently continuing their love of sports by participating in an indoor soccer team.
