Tom studied hydraulics, hydrology and water-resources sustainability at Colorado State University, where he recently earned master’s degree in water resources engineering. At GeoEngineers, he models rivers to aid restoration and civil design as well as evaluate flood-hazard potential. He also helps design in-stream revetment (sloping structures that absorb the energy of incoming water) and habitat structures and assesses their impact on local hydraulics, river processes and species habitat
So far, the newcomer to GeoEngineers is enjoying the varied projects and the variety of disciplines that work under one roof. “I don’t know another firm like ours. I think what makes us most different is our ability to bring the best team forward and use hugely varied personnel to provide a unique product to the client. We all care deeply for our environment and will strive to protect and better it in any way possible. Restoration and rehabilitation are in our blood.”
Work and leisure overlap for Tom. “On my own time, I enjoy exploring new landscape and learning about our environment, all of which I do on a daily basis at work. I enjoy hunting, fishing and most outdoor adventure sports. I love getting off the pavement with my ‘83 Jeep CJ7 and getting in tight spots and mud holes that are seemingly impossible to get out of.”
