Tom says he was first attracted to engineering because of his math and science abilities and his preference for completing projects, not just contemplating them. Tom’s geotechnical engineering services are generally focused on transportation or ulility infrastructure improvements such roads, bridges, water pipelines, reserviors and urban renewal projects. During his career Tom has provided geotechnical services for many commercial site developments and mixed-use projects, including several major developments within suburban Seattle.

The 90th Street Corridor and Sammamish River Bridge project in Redmond, Washington is one Tom cites as an example of GeoEngineers’ loyalty to clients and commitment to world-class service. “The contractor had some serious and potentially very costly problems during installation of the large-diameter foundation shafts,” Tom describes. “During the ensuing meetings and deliberations, I was able to help steer them toward a solution to the problems. The project got back on track and the client was extremely appreciative of my efforts. It turned out to be a beautiful structure and won several awards.”

At the office, Tom prizes his freedom and self-direction, but once he’s home, he finds himself mowing the lawn so that his wife can’t reel him into pulling weeds!
