Before making the switch to environmental work in 2003, Zanna worked in England and Seattle as an environmental and engineering geologist and as manager of a geotechnical lab. At GeoEngineers, she works on large environmental remediation projects, where she is a whiz at wrestling mountains of geological site data into shape for analysis and interpretation.
These projects have revealed Zanna’s communication and negotiation talents. She explains that when clients, consultants, scientists and regulators come to the table, she enjoys the collaboration and teamwork with knowledgeable colleagues that bring complex projects to successful outcomes. Zanna appreciates being a part of GeoEngineers’ culture of broad internal ownership, where everyone’s opinion matters and forward thinking is encouraged.
Zanna’s other claim to fame is her “good nose,” which comes in handy for her fascination with identifying fragrances. With a growing family keeping her running, she’s put training for sprint triathlons on hiatus for now.
