Project Environmental Engineers
Seattle, Washington
Duties: Performs project related environmental engineering activities. Coordinates the field investigations to collect environmental data (soil, sediment, groundwater, and vapor). Prepares remedial investigation work plans, sampling and analysis plans, data reports. Prepares design documents and supporting deliverables, including engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, and engineers’ estimate. Ensures that work performed is consistent with project plans and specifications as well as in accordance with safety guidelines. Coordinates the activities of other staff. Completes engineering analyses and calculations. Develops moderately complex conceptual models (i.e., numerical modeling, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, etc.). Completes moderately complex spatial analyses (e.g., contours, clipping, buffering). Develops project deliverables related to GIS data such as maps, database organization, etc. Contributes to the generation of technical reports including completion of routine reports, figures, tables, etc. Assists senior staff in completing portions of large, complex reports, figures, tables, etc. Supports project management tasks such as budget planning, general field report reviews, and proposal development. Coordinates small projects under the supervision of a certified professional engineer or geologist as required. Gathers project-related field data and samples including soil, groundwater and/or surface water, etc. as needed. Coordinates samples for testing. Completes detailed, accurate field reports. Prepares design documents and supporting deliverables, including engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, and engineers’ estimate. Prepares permit applications and coordinate with regulatory agencies in obtaining project permits. Domestic travel to project sites and GeoEngineers’ Redmond, Washington office may be required up to 10% of the time. Telecommuting from home may be permitted 20% of time (1 day/week) at manager discretion.
Requirements: Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree or the foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related engineering field and 3 years of experience as an Environmental Engineer, Environmental Scientist or in a closely related occupation. Experience must include:
- 3 years performing environmental field investigations, including 2 years performing Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, 2 years contributing to technical reports, and 2 years assisting with budgeting and scheduling field work.
The position also requires:
- EI (Engineer Intern) or EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification or eligibility for EI/EIT certification through having passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
All education, training and experience may be gained concurrently. Applicants must be U.S. workers (includes U.S. citizens, permanent residents, foreign nationals granted temporary residence under one of the 1986 legalization programs, refugees, and asylees.
