CAD Technician

This is a unique opportunity that will give you an amazing foundation to start your CAD career. As a CAD Technician, you’ll help us tell the story of each project site visually combining accurate technical details with creative flair. You will work as part of our close-knit, decentralized CAD team, where you’ll be mentored by experienced professionals from various offices and contribute to interesting, diverse projects across the United States.  

We aren’t just looking for a drafter; we’re looking for someone with a passion to learn how to produce complex graphics for geotechnical investigations and environmental remediation. As your expertise grows, your career trajectory will include opportunities to work on complex designs for environmental remediation, roadway retaining walls, shoring systems for large excavations, mine reclamation, stream restoration, and more.  

In your first year, you will be fully immersed in the many tools found in Civil 3D, moving beyond the basics to become a key part of our design teams. If you have a foundational knowledge of AutoCAD and a lot of passion to grow, this is the perfect place to build your future. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision of CAD staff, assists with: Redlines, Civil 3D tasks such as the creation of points, surfaces, alignments, and sections/profiles, Processing CAD and engineering data sets to be used in drawings, Creating figures, Providing basic support for engineering design drawings, Internal CAD standard initiatives such as detail library development, creating symbology, organizing layers in templates, etc. 
  • Collaborates with CAD staff to meet deadlines, adhere to budgets, and ensures deliverables are reviewed for QA/QC 
  • Adheres to internal and industry CAD drawing production standards 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Technical or Associate’s degree preferred. 
  • Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D required. 
  • Ability to follow written, verbal, and/or diagrammatic instructions 
  • Ability to consistently meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Professional-level verbal and written communication skills 

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Normal office environment with moderate noise levels, occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs., prolonged sitting, and regular walking, bending, standing and reaching. 
  • Ability to perform consistent work on a PC with prolonged view of a monitor/screen. 

Our best estimate of the salary range for the CAD Technician, located in Seattle or Redmond, WA, is $28.37 – $39.04 an hour, located in Tacoma, WA, or Portland, OR is $27.50 – 37.88 an hour, located in Spokane, WA or Springfield, MO is $26.11 – $35.91 an hour. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors, including education and experience, as well as internal equity. GeoEngineers’ salary ranges are reviewed and updated each year and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance. As part of our competitive total rewards package, employees in this role may also be eligible for our annual year-end bonus offering, subject to program eligibility requirements.
