Douglas B. MacDonald to Join GeoEngineers’ Board of Directors

Douglas MacDonald

Douglas B. MacDonald has been appointed the newest member of GeoEngineers’ board of directors, David Sauls, PE, chairman of the board and principal geotechnical engineer, announced today. MacDonald will fill one of the two open seats the firm reserves for non-shareholder directors.

MacDonald was Secretary of Transportation for the Washington State Department of Transportation from 2001 to 2007. During his tenure, he instituted several programs that increased WSDOT’s transparency to the public and improved its reputation for accountability. MacDonald’s leadership led to increased public support and funding for transportation projects. Prior to heading up WSDOT, he directed the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority, where he oversaw the cleanup of polluted Boston Harbor. Doug holds undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard University and spent two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Africa. He has practiced law both in private practice and as chief legal counsel to the Massachusetts Port Authority.

As Sauls welcomed MacDonald to the board, he noted, “Through Doug’s service on the Board of Directors, he will bring GeoEngineers invaluable insights in the transportation market sector for our Puget Sound and western offices, as well as nationally.”
