This morning I’m meeting Bill O’Dowd with the National Energy Technology Laboratory and our Project Manager on the Missouri Carbon Sequestration Project to embark on an 850-mile, three-day circuit of Missouri to tour four carbon sequestration drilling sites; meet with representatives of Missouri’s largest electric utility companies; and review research being conducted by Missouri University of Science & Technology, Missouri State University and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
Our journey will touch on almost all of the diverse physiographic provinces in Missouri, from the Dissected Till Plains of north-central Missouri to the rugged hills and valleys of the Ozark Highlands in southwestern Missouri. Along the way, I will chronicle the sights, sounds and history of this region; describe the geologic features that hold promise of carbon sequestration; and provide updates on this important research.
Our first day’s journey will commence at the Marriott Hotel at St. Louis International Airport and end at the 167-year-old Saint George Hotel in the Missouri River town of Weston.
