Principal Environmental Engineer Phil Welker has been appointed Regional Vice President (RVP) for the Society of American Military Engineers’ (SAME) California Region. Phil began his tenure in June at the Camp Pendleton Day SAME event, where he recognized event volunteers and connected with industry and government leaders. In this leadership role, Phil will help guide the organization’s activities across the region and support its mission of fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors.
Phil first encountered SAME in 1995, while he was still working for the Air Force. Impressed with their mission to improve communities and promote responsible infrastructure development, he eventually became very involved in his local Sacramento chapter.
Over the years, Phil has served the SAME Sacramento Post in a variety of roles, including some time as board president and a number of years as post president. His contributions have been recognized in the past, most notably by the national SAME Academy of Fellows, which inducted Phil as a Fellow in 2020.
