As a proposal specialist, Ashley specializes in our clients. She writes competitive proposals and statements of qualifications outlining GeoEngineers’ experience, and develops relationships with partners, clients and professional organizations across the industry.

Ashley is an excellent writer with a background in English, and she enjoys taking technical information and translating it into clear messaging for our clients and partners. She spent about ten years in customer service and knows how to see things from the client’s point of view. While still in college, Ashley had the opportunity to intern for a city planning department. It was her job to support the city’s new transportation action plan, and in the process she learned how much engineering and earth science work can directly benefit a community.

“I really enjoyed it, especially the final stages of my internship where I took the information and rephrased and rewrote it in a way others could understand and engage with,” Ashley says. “That led me to work in proposal development and eventually for an engineering firm.”

Ashley’s time as a technical editor for a small geotechnical engineering firm taught her to juggle a variety of responsibilities at once—everything from project management and editing engineering reports to preparing proposals and other marketing materials. In 2021, Ashley joined GeoEngineers looking for opportunities to grow and learn.

“I really enjoy getting to exercise my creativity,” Ashley says. “There’s never a dull moment in this environment—the work is constantly in flux. I also enjoy getting the chance to further develop both my technical skills (like new software applications relevant to my job) and technical knowledge of how engineering works. It’s intellectually stimulating.”

This desire to challenge herself also extends to Ashley’s free time. She spends a lot of time caring for and loving her two rescue animals (a cat and a dog). Staying active is important to Ashley, and she loves to get outside for a hike when she can.

“I’m addicted to the endorphin rush that comes from exercising, and I love the feeling of connectedness with nature when I’m hiking,” Ashley says.

When inside, Ashley is obsessed with home decorating and efficient small-space living. Even after more than ten years in the restaurant business, Ashley still loves trying and learning about new wines. She looks forward to traveling to Italy to sample different wine regions someday.
