Brian Ranney

Brian is an associate geologist who works on a range of projects such as landslide investigation and mitigation design, Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) design and construction monitoring, engineering geology studies and geotechnical site investigations.

Brian enjoys the opportunity to travel around the country to help his clients achieve their goals. He is especially proud of two challenging and successful projects, an HDD project in Louisiana for KLMP and a rock fall hazard assessment on the island of O’ahu, Hawai’i. “For KLMP, I managed the subsurface investigation of several HDD crossings in very difficult conditions in southern Louisiana lakes, marshes and bayous. I managed three drill rig crews, using many types of drilling platforms. That project was the experience of a lifetime.”

For the O’ahu project, Brian and his team used state-of-the-art technical tools to identify potential rock slides areas and mitigate risk to life and property. He reflects, “The level of teamwork at GeoEngineers is unparalleled. We often work with teams from offices around the country, and those teams are unselfish with the common goal of helping our clients.”

When traveling for work, Brian often finds time to fit in a bit of rock-hounding, hiking or fishing. “I really get excited to fish new parts of the county and even spent time in Key West recently to fly fish for Tarpon on the flats near the Marquesas Keys. Fishing while watching the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean was unforgettable.”
