Bruce credits his choice of career path to a 10th grade biology teacher who involved students in hands-on environmental science projects and challenged them to make a difference. Today, Bruce is an environmental principal at GeoEngineers. He leads environmental work in the company’s Spokane, Boise, Portland, and Salt Lake City offices and specializes in bringing abandoned and underutilized contaminated properties into productive and beneficial use.

For clients with environmental concerns, Bruce and his teams conduct remedial investigations and evaluate and implement remedial actions at properties such as railyards, lumberyards, ports, fueling sites and large industrial facilities. Bruce says of his work, “I enjoy the people I get to interact with daily—clients, co-workers, and the greater community. Also, I truly enjoy the variety of technical challenges and finding creative, yet functional approaches for our clients.”

His biology teacher’s message had holding power: Bruce makes a difference in his community through his leadership in education-related community programs that intertwine his personal interests with those of GeoEngineers and the earth sciences profession. When it comes to his leisure time, Bruce enjoys time with his family and friends, and gravitates to doing things outside, particularly cross-country skiing, mountain biking and camping.
