Ethan spends his days at GeoEngineers answering the question, “How strong is dirt?” From site investigations to construction monitoring, Ethan enjoys the “art” side of soil mechanics and the balance between field and office work that an engineering career brings.

Ethan was excited to join GeoEngineers as a staff engineer after having worked at a much smaller, single office company in Portland, OR. “I was attracted to larger, more interesting projects with a larger company,” Ethan says. He added that he and his wife also liked the idea of having sun more than 10 days out of the year.

An avid outdoorsman, Ethan spends a good deal of his free time backpacking, rock and ice climbing, caving, mountain and road biking, and whitewater rafting and kayaking. In the rare instances when he is indoors, he’s most likely spending his time making wine or beer.
