Ethan is our boots on the ground in Missouri, where he focuses on highway projects across the region. He helps departments of transportation and other clients understand what’s happening underground—then he applies that insight to design infrastructure that stands the test of time. Whether supporting transportation, energy, or community-based projects, his goal is simple: to build in ways that are safe, resilient, and rooted in a deep understanding of geology.
With a unique blend of geological and civil engineering expertise, Ethan specializes in translating complex earth science into practical, buildable solutions. “I have a great overlap between a geologist and civil engineer,” he explains. “We can take the fascinating science of geology and translate it to how infrastructure can be built successfully in the earth environment.” His favorite projects are those that benefit underserved communities—where his work can make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
Before joining GeoEngineers, Ethan spent 10 years in consulting as a geological engineer, helping reduce the risk of landslides and other geologic hazards for highways, pipelines, mining operations, and local communities. He’s also committed to using his skills for good, contributing to pro-bono and humanitarian engineering initiatives in Canada, Central America, and South America—including work with First Nations communities and vulnerable populations living in high-risk areas.
At GeoEngineers, he’s excited to expand his technical knowledge and collaborate with colleagues on meaningful, complex earth science challenges, along with working on transportation projects in his local community. His long-term goal is to keep growing as a geological engineer while working on projects that contribute to a safer and more equitable future.
Outside of work, Ethan is an avid outdoor adventurer who enjoys rock climbing, multi-day bike trips, and exploring remote landscapes. These days, he’s sharing his love of the outdoors with his two young children—whether they’re tossing rocks into creeks or camping under the stars.
