Principal Natural Resources Scientist
- Seattle, WA
As a principal on our natural resource protection team, Jeff is responsible for helping to expand GeoEngineers’ range of ecological services into new markets. His familiarity with permitting, ecological restoration and litigation-related support also keeps him busy managing relationships with a large number of clients.
Jeff has always had a passion for the outdoors and a curiosity to find out how natural environments interact to produce the world we live in.
“I stumbled on my first consulting position, and was excited to learn that my interest in ecosystems actually had value in the job market, specifically with clients trying to meet the requirements of environmental laws,” Jeff says. “I have stuck with this ‘applied ecology’ ever since.”
With more than 25 years of experience as an environmental consultant, Jeff has the diversity of experience necessary to tackle any ecological challenge. Throughout his career he’s focused on fisheries, restoration, shellfish aquaculture, forestry and marine development. Jeff also has experience working under federal contracts for clients such as the US Navy, US Fish and Wildlife Service and US Forest Service.
As a relatively new principal, Jeff is excited about what he can add to GeoEngineers’ team, and hopes to continue to grow our ecological work throughout the country.
“For a year or two I will have ‘new eyes’ that will help me to bring ideas and perspectives to the larger company,” Jeff says. “My career has provided me with a very broad range of management and intellectual experiences that will enable me to help the company succeed.”
Even in his free time Jeff still calls himself a “student of ecosystems,” and enjoys exploring new areas while walking or jogging. He also puts his knowledge to use in his home garden, where he grows fruits and vegetables for the kitchen. When he’s not exercising himself or his green thumb, Jeff enjoys sailing, crafting homemade cider and wine, and riding his Harley Davidson.
