John performs subsurface investigations for geotechnical engineering projects, including soil and geologic research, laboratory testing, report preparation and observing construction on foundation elements.

Originally looking for work as a hydrogeologist, John found he had a natural inclination for geotechnical work. Over the past 23 years, he has worked for a variety of firms throughout the Northwest and was drawn to GeoEngineers because of its growing strength in geotechnical services in Portland, Oregon. “I enjoy finding ways to produce quick, accurate and cost-effective field and lab data to solve geotechnical problems,” he said. “With more than 20 years of experience in the field, I have a great familiarity with the most efficient exploration means and methods in the Portland area.”

Outside of work, John is busy at home raising a son and daughter. “When not immersed in child-rearing, however, I am a huge Timbers and Thorns fan. I even cover the Thorns for the local soccer blog Slide Rule Pass.”
