Practices

As a geotechnical field technician, Katie spends a lot of her time at GeoEngineers’ project sites. She investigates soil conditions, coordinates with contractors, and helps the rest of our project team stay connected to daily site operations.

I love being outside and interacting with people,” Katie says. “I’ve always wanted a job where I get to play in the dirt, and I believe I have found the perfect fit as a field technician.”

Inspired by her love for the outdoors, in 2023 Katie completed a bachelor’s degree in earth science with an emphasis on climate and environment. As a student Katie conducted research on wildfire mitigation through machine learning, and she sees lots of opportunities to enhance her work with technology as her career progresses. She is already expanding her knowledge of programming languages like Python and mapping software like ArcGIS, and looks forward to applying her technical skills to real-world projects.

My favorite part of my position at GeoEngineers is interacting and learning from all their employees,” Katie says. “Being surrounded by such intelligent and welcoming people has been what I look forward to each day.”

Outside of work, Katie enjoys hiking, camping, swimming, and spending quality time with her cat!

We're driven by our values.
