Ryan is a senior engineering geologist with more than two decades of experience. He specializes in identifying and assessing geologic conditions that affect infrastructure projects, with a particular passion for geohazard work involving landslides and rockfall. Ryan’s expertise helps clients anticipate and mitigate natural risks that could compromise safety and performance.
Before joining GeoEngineers, Ryan spent 18 years conducting engineering geologic work for the federal government in both the natural resource and transportation sectors. That experience gave him a broad foundation in geology and hazard mitigation, as well as a deep appreciation for the power of collaboration.
“While a strong foundation in engineering geology has been essential to delivering value,” he explains, “my ability to collaborate with diverse teams and foster an environment that inspires vision, creativity, motivation, and enthusiasm has been the key to my success.”
Ryan didn’t always know he’d end up in geology. He explored several career directions before a conversation with a family friend—a geologist—changed everything.
“He shared stories of rappelling down rock slopes and kayaking whitewater rivers to map remote canyons. His passion for the work was infectious, and it inspired me to give geology a try.” After just one class, Ryan was hooked.
Now at GeoEngineers, Ryan is excited to work with a team of technically excellent professionals who share his commitment to delivering value to communities through thoughtful, science-based solutions.
Outside of work, Ryan enjoys biking, multi-day rafting trips, and walking along Pacific Ocean beaches, but says he’s happiest simply spending time with family and friends in the outdoors.
