As a compliance specialist, Sarah uses her unique blend of experience in environmental compliance, program management, and policy to help her clients reach their goals. Environmental regulations affect most modern businesses in one way or another, and Sarah helps developers, heavy industries, and other landowners understand their options and make the best decisions for both their businesses and the environment. She regularly acts as a liaison to federal, state, and local regulators, and when appropriate, Sarah develops compliance or corrective action plans for her clients to address compliance issues related to land, water, or air.

Sarah launched her environmental compliance career after graduating from Oregon State University in 2006, and in the years since, she has led compliance activities for industrial clients in a wide range of markets and contexts. Her experience includes stormwater, solid waste, hazardous waste, storage tank management, and more. Sometimes these efforts are preventative, and Sarah works closely with her clients to put compliance plans in place that mitigate environmental risks and meet regulatory requirements. When an environmental issue is discovered, Sarah also works collaboratively with legal counsel, client representatives, and regulators to design corrective action plans for long-term solutions.

In addition to her consulting firm experience, Sarah spent some time as an in-house environmental engineer at a large multi-site manufacturing company. Her experience on the client side of the consulting relationship has helped Sarah understand how important it is to put herself in the client’s shoes and to see things from their perspective.

Sarah’s care for the environment extends beyond her professional life and into her family’s little Portland neighborhood. In her free time, Sarah enjoys collaborating with her neighbors on house projects, cooking and sharing meals, relaxing in the local park, or building community with other parents while hanging out on the sidelines at her kids’ sporting or school adventures.
