Skylar Netherland is a project scientist in our Redmond office, where he manages natural resources projects with a specialization in wetlands. On any given day, Skylar might be performing wetland and stream delineations and determinations, endangered species habitat evaluations, or avian surveys. To put it simply, Skylar assesses and monitors natural habitats to ensure environmental compliance and conservation.

Before coming to GeoEngineers, Skylar spent 15 years building his environmental consulting experience in Texas. His early work involved volunteering on nature preserves and working in emissions testing at coastal refineries. Skylar’s career evolved through roles in environmental compliance and site due diligence, and he eventually launched his own firm focusing on environmental assessments. In January 2024, Skylar moved to Washington with a desire to deepen his expertise in the region’s environmental practices.

Reflecting on his transition and future goals, Skylar says, “to learn more of the Washington regulatory world and see where I fit in—that’s what I aim for here.”

Outside of work, Skylar is passionate about his project car, traveling, and spending quality time with his family. Skylar enjoys the outdoors and many of his hobbies are an extension of his love of the natural world, including camping, birding, hiking, and gold prospecting!

We're driven by our values.
