Strickland is a staff geotechnical engineer in GeoEngineers’ Boston office, where he supports projects through hands-on fieldwork and clear, detailed documentation. His responsibilities include logging and classifying soils, observing construction activities, and preparing reports based on the data he collects.

His interest in geotechnical engineering began while studying at UMass Amherst, where a soil mechanics professor brought the subject to life through stories and real-world examples. Those experiences helped him see the impact geotechnical engineers have on the built environment and inspired him to pursue the field as a career. Before joining GeoEngineers full time, Strickland gained early industry exposure through a two-year land surveying internship, building foundational skills in site work and data collection.

Strickland first joined GeoEngineers as a summer intern between his junior and senior years. The supportive culture and collaborative team left a lasting impression. When he was offered a permanent role after graduation, accepting was, in his words, “a no-brainer. The people that I worked with made the experience amazing.”

Punctuality and attention to detail are the qualities he values most in his work, and he brings both to every project. Looking ahead, Strickland hopes to continue strengthening his technical skills in the field and in report drafting so he can eventually lead projects of his own. He also plans to earn his Professional Engineer license once he is eligible.

Outside of work, Strickland enjoys modifying and driving his car, fishing in the summertime, and staying active through running and basketball.
